How Tampa Epoxy Flooring Pros Approaches a Floor

Tampa Epoxy Flooring Pros puts resin coatings on concrete. That means garage floors, flake and metallic floors, polyaspartic systems, lanais, patios, pool decks, warehouse aisles and shop floors in Tampa and the towns around it in Hillsborough and southern Pasco counties. The name is just our name. What we can show you is the method, so here it is.

We start with the slab, not the color chart

Color and finish are the fun part, and we will get there. First, though, we look at what the concrete is doing. Tampa air is damp for much of the year, the rainy season runs from late May into early October, and plenty of garages around the bay took on water during the 2024 storms. A coating sticks to concrete only as well as the concrete lets it. So the first visit is about the floor: its age, its moisture, its cracks and whatever has been spilled or painted on it.

What the first visit includes

  • We measure the space and test the slab for moisture.
  • We note old paint, sealer or coatings, oil, rust marks, cracks, spalling and low spots that hold water.
  • You tell us what happens in the space: two cars, a trailered boat, a golf cart, a workbench, a home gym, a forklift.
  • We check whether sun reaches the floor, since that changes which topcoat makes sense.
  • We ask whether an HOA or condo board needs to see the plan first.

What the written quote spells out

The quote lists the system by name, each coat in order, how we will prep the slab, any crack or joint repair, and the full price. Should the job turn up something that alters the scope, you get it in writing and we hold off until you approve it.

How install days run

We diamond grind the concrete so the resin locks into fresh, porous concrete, not to a slick surface. Cracks and pitted spots are filled before the first coat. Before each coat we read air temperature, humidity, slab temperature and dew point. In summer we start early so the floor is protected before the afternoon storms build. If the numbers are wrong on the day, we move the date. Before we leave, you get clear times for walking on the floor, moving things back and parking.

What we will not do

Concrete is the only surface we coat; tile, wood and vinyl are outside what we do. When a slab has an issue no coating can cure, such as water entering during storms, a structural crack or a section that is heaving, we tell you plainly before you spend money on a new floor.
